Offset Shadow Instructions

Click on the Layer\Offset Shadow menu item to get the Offset Shadow controls:




Create an Offset Shadow

Now that you've taken a look at the Offset Shadow Controls, click on the Caption Tool and create a small caption. Here's the caption from the Unity Temple drawing:




Click again on the Layer\Offset Shadow menu item to get the Offset Shadow controls. You will also get a small "point" cursor. Click down a first point anywhere on the layer. Then click a second point away from the first. The distance between them will be the offset for the shadow and the direction will the direction of the shadow offset:




Offset Shadow Control Bar

The Offset Shadow control bar is the bar with the title "Offset Shadow" on the left end of it.



Offset Shadow Title Button


Mouse over the "Offset Shadow" title button to pop up an overall Offset Shadow help window. You can also mouse over the other controls to pop up a help window.


Blur


Adjust the Blur slider to soften the edges on the shadow and spread it out.

On the shadow above, the blur was set to 50%.


Opacity


Increase the Opacity slider to add more of the selected color to the shadow.


Lines


Check the Lines box to cast the shadow from lines in the layer.


Surface Color


Check the Surface Color box to cast the shadow from the opaque colored areas in the layer. In the sample, there are no colored areas. The caption is stored in line pixels, so the shadow is cast from these line pixels.
