The free Google Sketchup® program is a good source of line work. The view of objects can be adjusted to get what you want. This Smart Car was exported from Sketchup® as a hidden line drawing, imported into ColorCaps via File/Import Photo File, and then Layer/Extract/Pen Lines was run to separate the lines out of the image. Some rudimentary lighting was added.
A drawing like this would normally be included as additional interest in a larger drawing, and as such, a relatively simple treatment of the line work is all that is needed. The lines were globally thickened to 5, and the outline 15 and some inner edges 10, to make it more readable. The interior surfaces were darkened a bit and a shadow under it.
In this case, no surface color has been added. The color comes entirely from the background, which makes this additional interest item blend nicely into the host drawing scenario. Some accent color could then be added as needed.

Of course, you can also use Sketchup® to model the main subject of the drawing.
The drawing above was derived from a Google Sketchup® model. It is shown here as an example of how to colorize line drawings.
